Is this a full colony or a nuc?
It’s a full, established colony in a complete National hive (not a 5–6 frame nuc).
What exactly is included?
Abelo 12-frame poly brood box, floor, crownboard and roof; a queenright colony with brood at all stages and seasonal stores; marked 2025 F1 Buckfast queen. Supers not included.
When is it available?
Pre-order for May 2026. We’ll confirm your exact window based on weather and colony readiness.
Do you deliver outside Dorset?
We offer free delivery anywhere in Dorset. If you’re outside Dorset, please contact us to discuss options.
Is the queen marked and UK-mated?
Yes — UK-mated F1 Buckfast, marked to year for easy identification.
How do you manage health and biosecurity?
Colonies are raised to NBU-aligned hygiene with routine disease checks and IPM Varroa control prior to handover.
Do you guarantee the colony?
We guarantee a queenright, healthy colony at handover. If anything seems amiss on arrival, contact us immediately.
Are supers included?
No — supers are not included. Add supers once the colony is covering frames and nectar flows begin.
Tips for moving and installing?
Move during the cool of evening with entrance secured and mesh ventilation. Place in final position, open the entrance, feed if needed, and wait a few days before first inspection.
Not in Dorset — what are my options?
For UK-wide availability, consider our nucleus colonies (nucs) which ship nationally.
