Aspiring to connect with a world beyond our consciousness and our planet, nimiia vibié sounds the interactions between a neural network, audio recordings of early Martian language, and microscopic footage of extremophilic space bacteria. Here, the computer is a medium, channeling messages from entities that usually cannot speak. However, it is also an alien of our creation. Drawing on nimiia cétiï, Jenna Sutela's project on machine learning and interspecies communication, the record manifests a more-than-human language. This language is based on the computer's interpretation of a Martian tongue from the late 1800s, originally channeled by the French medium Hélène Smith and now voiced by Sutela, as well as the movement of Bacillus subtilis, an extreme loving bacterium that, according to recent spaceflight experimentation, can survive on Mars. The bacterium is also present in nattō, or fermented soybeans, a probiotic food considered as a secret to long life. Beyond Bacterial-Martian culture, or Martian gut bacteria, the project attempts to express the nonhuman condition of computers that work as our interlocutors and infrastructure. Personnel: Miako Klein - contrabass recorder; Shin-Joo Morgantini - flute; Ville Haimala - sound production. Mastered by Rashad Becker at Dubplates & Mastering, Berlin. Jenna Sutela works with words, sounds, and other living materials. Her audiovisual pieces, sculptures, and performances seek to identify and react to precarious social and material moments, often in relation to technology. Sutela's work has been presented at museums and art contexts internationally, including
Guggenheim Bilbao, Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, and Serpentine Galleries. She is a Visiting Artist at The MIT Center for Art, Science & Technology (CAST) in 2019-20. The project originates in n-dimensions, Google Arts & Culture's artist-in-residence program at Somerset House Studios. Machine learning in collaboration with Memo Akten and Damien Henry.

One cable does it all, rock solid Ethernet and great 4K output
This hub has simplified my desk setup considerably. I plug it into my MacBook and instantly have Ethernet, 4K HDMI, two USB-A ports, and 100W charging all from one connection. The Ethernet is Gigabit and the speeds are as fast as plugging directly into the router. The 4K HDMI output to my monitor is clean with no flickering. It runs slightly warm during extended use but nothing alarming. Build quality feels solid and UGREEN has been consistently reliable in my experience. Worth every penny if you need to expand a USB-C only laptop.

Nothing Special
Works as intended. I bought it mostly for the Ethernet adapter which was plug and play with the latest installation of Fedora Linux and uses an AX88179 Gigabit Ethernet chipset. The Ethernet portion does not have activity lights. A bit of a lazy omission.
Port locations are smartly placed with the HDMI output and power input at the back facing one direction, and the Type A USB peripheral ports facing the other. This is great for cable routing. The single Type C port is only for power delivery. It will not work for data to connect other peripherals.

UGREEN
Very useful and compact USB-C hub. It easily expands connectivity with HDMI, USB ports, and fast charging support. The 4K HDMI output works well for presentations and streaming, and the 100W power delivery keeps devices charged without issues. Build quality feels solid, and it’s perfect for travel or daily use. Great value for the price.

Compact and useful.
It's small and light enough to fit in my bag easily. My computer uses a USB-c charger, and there's only one port, but I was able to use it for ethernet, and pass the charging through the same port. I've had issues with my computer not recognizing charging from some sources before, so this was great.
