HISTORIC PROVENANCE
This piece is an interpretation of an ancient Egyptian lion’s head made of gypsum plaster in The Met collection, originally used as a model for stone waterspouts on temple walls. Crafted during a time when lion imagery shifted from stylized forms to more naturalistic representations, it functioned as both an architectural element and spiritual guardian.
