The ammonite measures 342 mm (13.5 inches) across, making it a very large and impressive specimen. 

The ammonite is very well preserved and has been painstakingly prepared over many hours to reveal the whole shell. The ribs are very finely defined, and the pale brown/tan colour is beautiful. These ammonites rarely have well-preserved centres, but this one is very finely preserved. The whole ammonite is preserved in crystalline calcite, and the crystals that have grown inside the shell can be seen on the edge of the fossil. Many of the patterned suture lines can also be seen in the shell.

A great example of an uncommon species and impressive in the flesh. A real show stopper!

It is a heavy fossil, weighing 9.85kg.

Around 196 million years old (Sinemurian, Early Jurassic), this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
