2026 Wake Coaches Winter Retreat

Ft. Myers, Florida • January 23–25, 2026 • Limited to Only 10 Riders

Start Your Year Off Right

Shake off the winter rust, scratch that off-season itch to ride, and join a fun, low-key winter wake event designed to help you learn, connect, and progress. Ride with great people, get coached by TWO world-class coaches, and set the tone for your entire 2026 season!

The Off-Season Sucks

It’s cold. You want to ride but can’t. Boat shows only make you more impatient for the season to start sooner. And even if you could get out, you know how hard it is to progress without guidance, structure, or a steady crew.

You have an idea of where you “should” be in your riding by now, and it feels frustrating that you're not there yet. The off-season atrophy is making your starting point for the year get further and further from your goals. The longer you wait, the more you have to play catch-up.

But It Doesn't Have To Be This Way

All of us on the coaching side have lived this: winters with little-to-no water access, losing momentum, guessing our way through tricks, and feeling stuck. Even Brandon spent years freezing through off-seasons with no way to progress, feeling like he was constantly behind—until he went all-in and made the move to Florida so he could ride and coach year round.

From The Wakeboard Camp to LearnWake, Wakeboarding Magazine, and now Wake Coaches, helping thousands learn faster and safer in low-impact environments.

But Brandon is no longer living in Florida! That’s why teaming up with Kirby Liesmann in Ft. Myers made perfect sense. Brandon has personally learned from him, coached beside him, and trusts his boats, his riding spot, and his coaching style completely. Together, they built a retreat that’s fun, chill, and wildly productive for riders of all levels.

How the Retreat Works

Three days. Ten riders. Real progress.

  • 10 riders total — 5 per boat

  • Morning set: 20–30 minutes of coached riding

  • Lunch: Brandon and Kirby ride and break down drills and trick progressions

  • Afternoon set: another full session with targeted corrections

  • Evenings: optional dinners, wake videos, and hangouts

  • Lodging: stay in the group Airbnb or book your own

  • Boats: MasterCraft XT24 and Axis A220, capable of low-impact skill development or juiced, pro-level wakes

  • Coaching: small drills, step-by-step guidance, and real-time BbTalkin headset feedback so everyone learns from every set

Fun, friendly, and wildly effective.

Never been coached through a trick step-by-step before? Check out this instructional video where Brandon walks you through learning a technical, but foundational, trick using the BbTalking comms setup behind the boat. This should give you a taste of what one of your coached sets could look like:

What You’ll Take Home

  • New skills and possibly new tricks

  • Cleaner fundamentals and better habits

  • Confidence heading into spring

  • Less winter regression

  • A stronger crew of riding friends

  • Momentum that carries into your best wake season yet

What Riders Are Saying

Ken Clark

Coached by Brandon & Kirby for nearly a decade | Age 68 | Grand Rapids, MI

“The Caloosahatchee River near Ft. Myers Shores is incredible—miles of calm water, beautiful scenery, and the occasional dolphin or manatee. Add a brand-new Axis and MasterCraft and the combined coaching of Brandon and Kirby, and you can’t help but have an epic time on the water. I’ve been coached by both of them for years—Brandon’s more technical and logical, while Kirby builds off what you already do well with small, helpful adjustments. They’re exceptional coaches and even better people. I’m 68 now and still riding, and honestly, I probably wouldn’t be wakeboarding anymore if it wasn’t for their help keeping me safe while improving my skills. This winter retreat is the perfect chance to knock off the rust, ride with old friends, and make new memories.”

Brandon and Kirby even coached each other in this 'Coach the Coach' series:

Check it out to see what it's like to learn from these two!

Your Investment

$2,000 per rider
Covers all coaching and boat time for the full three days.

When you compare it to slip fees, fuel weekends, gear upgrades, spring “relearning,” or the cost of one injury, it becomes obvious—coaching is the most cost-effective way to progress faster, safer, and smarter.

If You Don’t Join Us This Year…

Winter will pass, the season will start, and you’ll be rebuilding from scratch again. More bad habits, more frustration, more time and money spent guessing—and fewer of the breakthroughs you’ve been chasing.

You don’t have to repeat that cycle again this year.

Why It's Worth It

$2,000 is far less than:

  • One major boat repair

  • A season of slip fees

  • A few fuel-heavy weekends

  • A gear upgrade spree

  • A spring filled with “starting over”

  • Or the cost of one hard fall gone wrong

Coaching is the shortcut — and keeping your skills alive in the off-season is the cheat code for compounding your progress.

FAQs

  • What is included and what am I responsible for?
    • We'll take care of: World-class coaching, BbTalkin gear while you ride, boats and fuel.
    • You're responsible for: Travel, lodging, food, and your preferred riding gear (board, boots, life jacket, rope & handle, wetsuit, towel, etc.)

  • Do I have to bring my own gear?
    • That's preferred, since it's best to learn on what you're used to. It also gives the coaches a chance to make sure you're on the right gear and, if not, make recommendations on sizing, adjustments, etc.
    • That said, if you don't have gear you like, don't have a CGA life jacket, or can't travel with your gear for some reason, please let us know! We might have the sizes you need on hand or can obtain them for the clinic. Ultimately, you are responsible for your gear, but if you'd like help, we are absolutely happy to accommodate! Both Kirby and Brandon have access to a wide range of Ronix gear and are happy to help you get in the right equipment to help you progress quickly!

  • Which airport do I fly into?
    • RSW — Southwest Florida International Airport (20-25 min away)
    • PGD — Punta Gorda Airport (30-40 min away)

  • Where do I stay?
    • A few of us are hoping to get a group AirBnb with Brandon for ease, convenience, and having more fun! But that's completely optional and you are welcome to get a local hotel and do your own thing. The attendees interested in joining the group AirBnb with Brandon will coordinate that booking as it gets closer and more attendees are confirmed.

  • Can my child attend this retreat or is it only for adults?
    • This retreat is intended for progress-driven wakeboarders — old or young. This can range anywhere from mature teens, immature middle-aged men, and young-at-heart old guys who are still pushing themselves to the next level. We welcome mature teens as long as minors are accompanied by a parent or guardian. There are no additional fees associated to the parent or guardian of an accompanied minor. We are happy to make room for you in the boat! We do ask that you notify us so that we can be sure that there's an extra life jacket on the boat and that the boat stays at legal capacity.

  • What if I have more questions and just want to talk to someone about this retreat?
    • We'd love to talk to you about it! Call or Text Brandon directly at 530-305-8500

A Message From Brandon

I love this community. I know how frustrating it feels to want so badly to progress but not have the support, the guidance, or the environment to make it happen. I’ve made all the mistakes — trying tricks before I was ready, getting injured, avoiding tricks and riding positions that didn't come naturally, been stuck without a boat, without a crew, or just had life get in the way and knock me off track.

I don’t want you to have to struggle so hard in the pursuit of progress anymore. It doesn't have to be that hard, that slow, that painful, or that expensive.

I want you surrounded by the right people, the right information, and the right setup so you can learn faster, safer, and with more confidence. I want to open the door for exponential progress for you. If you can bounce on the trampoline, run, or climb stairs, you can still learn new tricks. You can still progress. This is the perfect time and place!

Let us guide you.
We know what we're doing and we can help you learn faster alongside some of the most fun riders from all over the country.
Let’s kick off the 2026 season together.

Brandon

Quality multi display hub
Works as intended, good value for the money and reasonably sized. I am currently running two 4K HDMI monitors on it without an issue. Ready to go out of the box and has a sturdy design, would recommend.

Anker support comes through
Update: Anker support contacted me and provided a new unit. On this one, the video works fine, both via HDMI and DisplayPort. I'm much happier now that the unit, which I do like, works properly. There is still one video-related quirk that can be annoying, though, if you often unplug the external monitor from the hub but leave the hub connected to the computer. When I unplug the external monitor from the hub, the hub doesn't tell the computer that the monitor is no longer connected (the same thing happened with the original faulty unit). Since the external monitor is my primary monitor when connected, this leads to an irritating set of steps ending up with disconnecting the hub. I reported this issue to Anker support and they forwarded it to their engineering group. Initial review: I like the form factor and the many connection options. They all work fine EXCEPT that the video (whether DisplayPort or HDMI) keeps dropping out. The computer (MacBook Pro M1 14" running MacOS 13.0.1) thinks the external monitor is there, but nothing shows on the screen for a few seconds, then it comes back on, then off again. Anker support says to try updating the firmware, but to do that requires a Windows computer with a USB-C port. I do not have access to such a machine, so I'm stuck. Since one of the primary reasons I want a hub is to handle the video, I have to return the unit. This is a real disappointment since I otherwise have been very happy with Anker products.

Incredible Quality, Incredible Results!!
AMAZING!! I use my Samsung Z Fold with a Maono Podcast Soundboard for podcasting. Having the phone charge from the soundboard power passthrough was inadequate to keep the phone charged, and generated "noise" in the path. I got the Anker 565 USB-C hub, and routed the power and signal through the Anker hub. WOW!! My phone remains fully charged throughout the podcast, there is ZERO "noise" in the signal, and I can actually do more than ever expected! The quality of Anker products has been proven with me Over and Over with every single product I have purchased. From high-end 240w USB-C cords, to Power Banks, Power Blocks, Bluetooth Earbuds & Headphones, across the board; I have never been disappointed! I highly recommend Anker, and specifically the Anker 565 USB-C hub!!

Versatile with all the ports you’re looking for.
Compact and really expands your options. I was using one of the ports on the MacBook Pro M1 for a second display and the other for an external drive and then switching back and forth with the charger. This device does all that and only uses one of the ports. Plus there are multiple USB OLD STYLE still available. No external power appears to be necessary, although since I use the Mac power supply in the dedicated power in port I’d think there’d be no issue.

Good product, I suspect, if it works. (Also Marketing Needs Improvement)
UPDATE: Nope, it's just the hub. :( It's either defective or not a good product, which is unfortunate. The stutter issue has been resolved, but I can still not use the dock to push an image to my secondary monitor (1080p). I spent several hours this evening updating drivers for my Lenovo Thinkpad E15 Gen2 (AMD) without success. FYI: This laptop DOES support PD+DP through USB-C, something I confirmed before trying to go down the USB-C route in an attempt to replace my ancient Diamond USB-A dock. An image was never sent to my second monitor, whether connected via HDMI or DP through the hub. In all cases, the monitor IS recognized by Windows, so some information is being communicated, just not an image to the monitor. During every attempt, when the monitor was first plugged in, responsiveness in Windows would stutter, lag, and generally respond slowly to my KB+M inputs until, eventually, the laptop caught up and was OK. I am highly disappointed and am considering returning both products, but the USB-C dock is definitely returning. It would be nice, but I don't need a 100W charger. My hope of replacing my current USB-A dock is diminishing at the price point I was hoping for, so we shall see if it's up to the task of the new 2K monitor I have on the way and go from there. Original: Buyer be cautioned: The Anker 565 USB-C also needs power for itself, which is evident if you think about it, but it's not stated anywhere that I could find, and it may not dawn on you until things aren't working quite right. Lack of power could cause many issues I've read about in reviews. The issue: Mouse movement would stutter every 5-10 seconds. Though Windows recognized my HDMI monitor in Device Manager/Display settings, no image was sent to it through the Anker hub. Current theory: So, the manufacturer's 65W USB-C charger for my laptop cannot FULLY power the hub with one connected HDMI monitor, two USBs, and Ethernet through the USB-C hub. I did not test the two USB devices (Keyboard and headset) as there was little need once the stuttering began, which was immediate. I have an Anker Nano 100W arriving tomorrow, and I will update the review once I've re-tested. Suggestion: My ask to Anker would be to *estimate* the power draw of their dock and list it somewhere with many warnings, etc. If they wanted to go above and beyond and add averages for peripherals and the like, that would be amazing, but if not, I would understand, as I'm sure that information could become dated fast. A power warning would have prompted me to consider the power charging situation, and I may gone with one of their docks (About a $100 increase) instead. But now that I'm annoyed, I'll purchase a 100W charger that I can use for my work laptop and elsewhere as needed. :) They are still getting my money, but not as much. They make amazing products, but small details like this matter to me as a consumer.
