This is an interesting read to help with your child’s self esteem and behavior. The first several chapters on the psychology behind behavior were more helpful and interesting than the second half of the book that addresses specific behaviors. This book has been so, so wonderfully helpful, my husband jokes it’s now my bible. Kiddo went from like 10-20 meltdowns a day to only a couple, and those are resolved in like a tenth of the time. It’s also honestly been healing for me as a child of loving parents who nonetheless didn’t learn all this stuff and did a lot of invalidating and shaming. A small hand loop or something may have helped. But I also think it’s something you can just get used to. I found them easier to use and keep a hold of whilst facing the water.
